Silly Squad, Summer Reading Challenge 2020

The Reading Agency and Barnet libraries are delighted to introduce Silly Squad, Summer Reading Challenge 2020; a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter featuring artwork from award-winning children's author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson.

This summer we are going to get silly!  Children are going to meet the Silly Squad; a hilarious bunch of characters who run a fantastically funny house. But beware:a mysterious baddy is waiting to spoil the fun!

The all-new digital Summer Reading Challenge with its Silly Squad theme has launched slightly earlier than usual, to keep children reading over the summer and support parents and carers with children at home.

As they read  their library books, children taking part online, will find out more about the Silly Squad characters; unlocking digital prizes, activities and video content as rewards for their reading. Families are encouraged to join in and ‘Get Silly’ with downloadable activities, games, quizzes and more. With new content to enjoy each week, the fun will continue throughout the summer to help keep families supported and engaged.

Barnet libraries have an excellent collection of children's eBooks and eAudiobooks available to borrow via our free Libby and Borrowbox Apps. Check them out here: https://www.barnet.gov.uk/libraries/online-resources/ebooks-and-eaudiobooks

In addition, our new 'Select and Collect' service will soon be up and running. Families will be able to choose a selection of books to collect from their local library. Full details to follow shortly.
